Local Strategies for Accelerating Sustainability
Case Studies of Local Government Success

Since the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, and in many cases predating it, local governments and their partners have instituted strategies for action that are accelerating the transition to sustainable, equitable and secure communities.

Local Strategies for Accelerating Sustainability: Case Studies of Local Government Success highlights the diverse ways in which the strategies of strengthening local government and intergovernmental cooperation, fostering international solidarity, building a culture of sustainability, and accelerating the transition to sustainable communities are being carried out successfully in municipalities worldwide.
